Introducing The RESEMBID Story – an exciting mini documentary which explores the birth of RESEMBID, its dedicated donors, its impactful portfolio of projects and thoughtful interviews with key stakeholders. This inspiring video celebrates the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) and the valuable work they are all implementing to improve lives and further develop their countries.

We present the inspiring story of the Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development Training Program at the Official University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI). This initiative played a pivotal role in post-COVID-19 recovery ecorts by providing training opportunities to over 50 unemployed and under-employed Caymanians.

Gibson Edwards joined the UCCI Sustainable Development Training Programme to support his professional pivot to project management. Now, as a programme graduate and Mega Systems Electrician, Gibson models for his daughter the sacrifice and reward of hard work and continued education.

The Official University College of the Cayman Islands’ Sustainable Development Training Programme featured a robust internship component that produced work-ready graduates. Craig Drummond, Head of Technology Recruitment at Invenio Global, shares how critical hands-on experience is for seamless integration into the labour market.

The Official University College of the Cayman Islands partnered with the GreenTech Group to help facilitate the Sustainable Development Training Programme and build a solar bench on campus. The bench is a tribute to clean energy and solar engineering, allowing students to enjoy the sun as it powers their devices.

With the new €10 million RESEMBID COVID-19 Resilience Response Facility, The European Commission continues to exemplify global leadership with demonstrations of solidarity well beyond the European Economic Area. The facility is now available to all 12 Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs), and is geared towards supporting efforts at managing and responding to the impact of COVID-19.

The Facility was approved by the European Union and Expertise France on Monday, 6th April, and has thus been established against the backdrop of overwhelmed public health systems across the OCTs, compounded by jarringly deepening social and economic crises in most Territories.

The Facility is funded by the European Union under the 11th European Development Fund, and is a component of its regional Resilience, Sustainable Energy and Marine Biodiversity Programme (RESEMBID). RESEMBID is being implemented by Expertise France, the development cooperation agency of France.
